First circular of  NUSYS2024

Dear Colleagues,
The fourth "NUclear physics School for Young Scientists (NUSYS2024)" will be held at Zhuhai, China from July 27 to Aug. 2, 2024 hosted by Beijing Normal University and Peking University, with arrival and check-in on July 27. The goal of this school is to inspire the PhD students and postdoctoral/young researchers by exposing them to the various facets of the nuclear physics and its applications to the nuclear science and technology, as well as the future prospects of the forthcoming nuclear facilities in East Asia.
Experts worldwide are invited to convey a view of the rich variety of present on-going activities in the field of experimental and theoretical nuclear physics and to discuss the opportunities offered by the on-going or the next-generation nuclear physics facilities particularly in Asia, such as HIAF (High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility), JUNA (Jinping Underground Nuclear Astrophysics), SLEGS (Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source) and BISOL which are being built or planned in China, RAON (Rare Isotope Science Project) in South Korea and RIBF (RI Beam Factory) in Japan. Each student is expected to contribute by presenting a poster related to her/his work. The organizing committee together with the invited lecturers will select six best posters for the oral presentation session.

The school will be conducted onsite. The school is jointly organized by Chinese Physical Society (CPS), Beijing Normal University (BNU), Peking University (PKU), Beihang University (BUAA), China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE), Fudan University (FDU),  Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Lanzhou University (LZU), Nanjing University (NJU) and Tsinghua University (THU).

The application is open now, and will be closed on May 15, 2024. The application form (to be completed by the student) can be found at the school website (https://indico.ihep.ac.cn/event/21760/). An abstract for the poster and a statement outlining self-introduction, motivation and the expectation from attending NUSYS2024 are required, which can be filled online. A recommendation letter needs to be sent directly to the school's email address: nusys_china@163.com to support the application.
The total number of participants for PhD students and postdoctoral/young researchers will be limited to 80. Participants will be selected by the organization committee.
Our target participants are mainly PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers. A confirmation letter will be sent to each selected participant via email. Accommodation and per diem for the attendees will be covered by the school.

Further details will be provided in the upcoming second circular.
We look forward to meeting you in Zhuhai!
